3. Block Project Choose any site in your community that is geography or history related. Get your site approved by your teacher (kmail) Visit that site. Write a summary your visit. (3-5 paragraphs) This will be due March 18 th

6. What are we going to learn today?? Content- –Students will be able to define basic terms related to geography, tell how to use a map to locate themselves, and differentiate between physical and human geography

What is Geography?  The study of all the aspects of the earth.  Physical Mountains, Lakes, Oceans etc.  Human People, Environmental Impact, Cultures etc.  Mere names of places...are not geography...Geography has higher aims than this: it seeks to classify phenomena [natural and political], to compare, to generalize, to ascend from effects to causes, and, in doing so, to trace out the great laws of nature and to mark their influences upon man....In a word Geography is a Science–a thing not of mere names but of argument and reason, of cause and effect.
