Treaty of Versailles, June 1919 Caused resentment throughout Germany Failed to bring peace and became a cause of starting WWII

The League of Nations Created to promote international peace and security Failed because: –United States did not join; Germany and Russia not allowed to join –Did not have any army –Did not meet regularly and needed a unanimous vote to resolve issues –Could not regulate trade between nations

Rise of the Dictators Dictators were able to gain support in the 1930s because their country’s economies were in ruins Germans felt mistreated by the Treaty of Versailles People believed in the dictators because they were well-spoken and convinced people they would be good leaders
