Class Rules In line with the “Baldridge” philosophy, students are expected to “BE RESPONSIBLE” and “RESPONSE- ABLE.” In addition, all students are expected to follow the Prince William Code of Behavior.

Excused From Participation

Students are expected to be prepared and participate in this activity class. If it is necessary for a student to be excused from participation, a parent note should be written and include what activities the child is excused from and what activities they are allowed to do. The note should have the date, parent’s signature, how many days the excuse is for, and a parent phone number for verification. Parental notes are good for no more than five consecutive days. A doctor’s note will be required after five days. Long term medical excuses and asthma forms must be provided by a doctor and signed by a parent to be kept in the student’s permanent folder. Those forms can be obtained from the physical education county website as well as the Parkside Middle School website. When an illness is obvious, a teacher, school nurse, or administrator may excuse the student (in writing). Students who do not prepare for class or are excused from participation in physical education will not be allowed to participate in after school athletics.

Excused students may be given an alternate assignments during class.

Early Dismissal Procedures By informing the teacher of an early release, students may NOT be required to “dress out,” but instead will be prepared to promptly be excused from class (nothing left in the locker room). Students will wait for that early dismissal in the office when classes are outdoors.
