1 Spanish 1 5.2 AFFIRMATIVE TÚ COMMANDS

2 If you would like to tell a friend or family member to do something in Spanish (tell me, wash your hands, pass the salt, etc), you must use affirmative tú commands.

3 AFFIRMATIVE TÚ COMMANDS You form an affirmative command by conjugating the verb it into the present tense él/ella/usted (3 rd person singular form) EXAMPLE Hablar – Habla! – Speak! Correr – Corre! – Run!

4 AFFIRMATIVE TÚ COMMANDS If the verb is irregular in the él/ella/Ud. form (stem-changer etc.), it will be irregular in the affirmative tú command as well. EXAMPLES Dormir (o-ue) – Duerme! – Sleep! Servir (e-i) – Sirve! – Serve!

7 AS ALWAYS, THERE ARE SOME IRREGULAR VERBS. THE FOLLOWING VERBS ARE IRREGULAR IN THE AFFIRMATIVE TÚ COMMAND FORMS.

9 IRREGULAR AFFIRMATIVE TÚ COMMANDS You can remember the irregular affirmative tú commands by this saying: “Vin Diesel has ten weapons eh!” “ven/di/sal/haz/ten/ve/pon/sé”
