2  Type 1 Diabetes is a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin.  Without enough insulin, glucose builds up in the bloodstream. This buildup is called hyperglycemia.

3  Type 1 Diabetes is most often diagnosed in children, adolescents, or young adults.

4  Treatment aims at maintaining normal blood sugar levels through regular monitoring, insulin therapy, diet, and exercise.

5  As long you watch your levels and exercise you can live a normal healthy life.
