My Student Magazine By Lucy Barrie

STUDENT MAGAZINE (Behind Closed Doors) I interviewed a variety of students asking them what they thought they wanted to be in a student magazine. My Magazine cover has a range of ideas some contributed by the studentsI interviewed for example, staff gossip, sports news and fashion tips. The majority of the students I interviewed felt that a student magazine should have staff banter because that would never get old and would really appeal to students to know what is happening.

Behind Closed Doors ‘Behind Closed Doors’ is going to be the title of my magazine. I chose this title because I thought it Linked to the stories I will be doing on my magazine cover like staff room gossip and student gossip. The Main Stories my magazine will be having are: Staff room gossip (what the staff really say when there in the staff room), School Achievements (what students have achieved however, not in lessons what they have achieved with friendships, banter, relationships), Sports news to do with the school for the sporty lads and girls, What to wear and what NOT to wear for the girly girls, What really happens in the common room (for example the behaviour with students and how the year groups have split and marked their territory), Top Tips for exams.

Behind Closed Doors (Head Lines, Tag Lines, Sell Lines) Lines...) My main sell line will be: ‘Best Banter, Gossip and Fashion tips yet.’ I chose this because each word has a relevance to the magazine. My tag line will be: ‘Read to find out more’

Behind Closed Doors (Pictures) My main Pictures are going to be a group of girls in the centre of the page, they will all be looking like there having a lot of fun with each other with there arms in the air. I will be having many other small photos on the front cover to go with each article.

Behind Closed Doors (Colours) My main background colour is going to be a mix between pink and blue blended on an edit to really catch both male and females eye. I have chosen two specific colours I will use to highlight the articles, they will be white, purple, dark blue and green. I don’t want all the colours to be the same so they blend in the back ground, as i still need it to be eye catching but not overwhelming. Each article will be in the same colour so it all blends in together but is still catching. They will be spread around the main image evenly so there aren’t any blank spaces. I have chosen my price, tag line and sell line all to be in white so they cling together and blend in.

Why I put everything where it is? I put each article around the image to ensure the image being the main attention of the magazine. each article is either dark green or dark blue so it blends in with the background but is still eye catching.

What I am happy with? What I would do better? I am happy with the colour and articles I have placed in my magazine. I am pleased with the pictures I took for my cover but I would probably like to do them again however edit them more. If I could improve i t I would add more articles however lay them out better.

Contents page My contents page took shorter than anticipated and I was very pleased with the outcome, I liked the layout of the pictures as I thought they resembled to a real contents page. However, I did not like the colours anymore of the back ground. I would improve this contents page by just having a white back ground otherwise I liked the page and wouldn’t change anything.
