Study Halls Students will be able to schedule one period of study hall per semester Study hall is NOT required but encouraged for 9 th grade year Be aware that the transition to high school is sometimes a tough one. With the added extracurriculars, study hall could help.

Extra Curricular Activities There are many extra curricular activities: Key Club Foreign Language Club Girls of Green Student Council Fellowship of Christian Students Chain Reaction Do Something Club Many more….

Coming Up with a Plan It is highly recommended that you make a 4 year plan. It is good to figure out where you want to end up and that will tell you where to begin. NAVIANCE program to help with this

PE, Health, & Financial Literacy PE Waiver- Students may be excused from the PE requirement by participating in: 2 years of ROTC or 2 full seasons of sports/band If you choose the PE Waiver, you will take Health and Financial Literacy your 9 th grade year

Athletics To be eligible for fall sports, you must be passing 5 classes at the end of the 4 th quarter of your 8 th grade year

Timeline Today – Overview of high school, receive Scheduling Worksheets and answer questions February 22 nd -Turn in Scheduling Worksheets to homeroom teacher February 24 th, 25 th & 26 th – One-on-one enter schedule with HS counselors April & May - HS counselors will be back down to answer any questions

Schedule Change Policy Mid May: a list of classes is sent home in the mail for one final examination Last day to request a schedule change is the last day of school, June 3 rd The request must be submitted prior to this date BUT the change may happen in the summer. See page 5 in the Curriculum Guide or the GHS Student Services website for details
