Discussion Boards

What are we talking about? An Internet forum is a facility on the World Wide Web for holding discussions Internet forums are also commonly referred to as web forums, message boards, discussion boards, discussion forums, discussion groups, bulletin boards Information via

What is a Discussion Board? A discussion board is a general term for any online "bulletin board" where you can leave and expect to see responses to messages you have left. Or you can just read the board.

Comparison With Other Web Applications Electronic mailing lists is that mailing lists automatically deliver new messages to the subscriber, while forums require the member to visit the website, and check for new posts. Forums, unlike wikis, do not allow people to edit other's messages. Unlike blogs, forums typically allow anyone to start a new discussion (known as a thread), or reply to an existing thread. Forums differ from chat rooms and instant messaging because forum participants do not have to be online at the same time. Information via
