3. Engaging the students When the instructors want to engage the students in face to face classes they will often start by asking the students to respond to various questions. However, in the online setting, it can be challenging to interact with each other without being able to see or hear reactions. The goal of this instruction is to facilitate the instructors to know which tools to use in Laulima to generate enthusiasm in e 3 learning.

Instructors can set privileges for the students to either “read and reply” which creates two-way communication or “read, reply, and post” where interaction and collaboration are generated.

Forums can be “threaded” so participants can see the progression of the discussion. The WYSIWYG interface, which allows rich text, plain text, and HTML editing, can be used to compose messages. Attachments can be added to messages and forums by uploading the files or URL of the file. Forum statistics can also be used to monitor the participation level of individual students. Instructors can import forums and topics from other sites. Groups can be set up to participate in specific discussions with access denied to non-group members.

18. Wiki This tools allows for the use of multiple file formats to be integrated including images, text, links. For instructors with limited technical know-how, this tool allows you to create and modify web pages with ease. Collaboration on documents and sharing of information is possible. Page history and information can be viewed to look at revisions. Permissions can be controlled by the instructor to allow participants to read, create, and update pages.
