Squamous cell hyperplasia Doctor shirazi Reza rostami Medicine

Squamous cell hyperplasia formerly called: hyperplastic dystrophy or leukoplakia

leukoplakia adherent white plaques or patches on the mucous membranes of the oral cavity

Presentation characterized by a pink-red vulva with overlying gray-white keratin prepuce, labia majora, interlabial sulci, outer aspect of the labia minora, and the posterior commissure

Histology There is epithelial thickening with acanthosis and hyperkeratosis. Parakeratosis may occur on the surface. Mild hyperkeratosis is present along with epithelial thickening. No nuclear atypia is present.

Histopathology elongation, widening of the rete ridges and irregular thickening of the Malpighian layer of rete ridges (acanthosis) May also Parakeratosis

Clinical behavior can be associated with a low risk for development of squamous cell carcinoma. Many conditions involving the vulva, benign, premalignant and malignant, present as white patches

Treatment oral tranquillizers at bedtime Topical corticosteroids fluorinated compounds in cream or ointment vehicles Class 1 topical steroid
