Changes Public Examination process is in a state of flux. New examination criteria and specifications in English, Mathematics, Science, RE, History, Geography and MFL. Your child will receive a grade 1-9 in these subjects with 1 being the lowest grade and 9 being the highest grade. Grade 5 is equivalent to a current C+ grade. All other GCSE subjects will be awarded Grades A*- E. BTEC subjects will continue to be awarded at a Pass, Merit, Distinction, Distinction *

New Attainment Measures Progress 8 Replaces current 5 A*-C including English and Mathematics. It measures a pupil’s progress across 8 subjects from Key Stage 2 – Key Stage 4. It compares how a student with the same KS2 score has performed. A score is reported as a decimal (+0.5 would mean an average of ½ grade better) Attainment 8 Measures a pupil’s raw results across the same 8 subjects. It will show as an average grade including + and -. For example B+ or D- % who achieve Grade 5 or above in English and Mathematics GCSE Language or Literature can count providing they have entered both. Looks like a Grade 5 (C+) will be considered a good pass. EBACC This will measure the % of the cohort that achieves a good pass in; English, Mathematics, two Sciences, an MFL and a Humanity (History/ Ancient History/Geography)
