WHAT IS TENSE?? Defines TIME Defines STATE Defines CONTINU ATION / COMPLE TENESS

What is Future Tense?  Form of verb that describes something which is yet to happen or take place.  In English we don’t have ONE future tense. We use several forms to talk about different ideas about the future

TYPES OF FUTURE TENSE…

FORMS OF SIMPLE FUTURE TENSE: Form: will + present tense Will I you he she it we they will ('ll) will not (won't) look

DIFFERENT USAGE OF ‘WILL’:  Future predictions without evidence-  Example: I think he’ll fail the exam.  Future Intention/Decision Made At The Moment Of Speaking  Examples:  Promises: I’ll pay you back tomorrow.  Offers: Shall I help u??  Suggetions: Shall we go to the cinema tonight?  Requests: Will you marry me?  Refusals: I won’t tell you anything.

DIFFERENT USAGE OF ‘WILL’:  Future Facts  Examples : The sun will rise at 6.30 tomorrow. Christmas day will fall on Tuesday this year.  In First Conditional Clauses  Exaamples: If I pass this exam, I’ll have a party.  Interrogative  Example: Will you travel by bus?

FUTURE CONTINUOUS…  Future Continuous Tense comes in 2 forms:  Will+ be + present particple Future Continuous (Progressive) with will I you he she it we they will ('ll) be will not (won't) be looking

FUTURE CONTINUOUS… Am going to + be + present participle Future Continuous (Progressive) with be going to I am ('m) going to be am not ('m not) going to be looking you we they are ('re) going to be are not (aren't) going to be he she it is ('s) going to be is not (isn't) going to be

USES OF FUTURE CONTINUOUS…  Predicted Or Planned Events  Example: This time next week I'll be lying on a beach in Hawaii.  Avoid Any Hint Of Intention, Planning, Prediction, Willingness Or Unwillingness  Example : Would you like a lift? - I'm going to be heading in that direction anyway.

FUTURE PERFECT SIMPLE…  It is not that much in use as the rest.  Form of it is: will + have + past participle Future Perfect Simple I you he she it we they will ('ll ) have ('ll've) won't have won't've looked

USES OF FUTURE PERFECT SIMPLE…  Activities That Will Have (Not) Finished Before A Future Time  Examples: By the end of next month I’ll have been living here for ten years. I will have passed my driving test by the end of the year. It is often accompanied by a time phrase beginning with eitherby or before

FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS…  Form: will + have + been + present participle Future Perfect Continuous I you he she it we they will have been 'll have been 'll've been will not have been will not've been won't have been won't've been looking

USES OF FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS…  Activities That Will Have (Not) Finished Before A Future Time  Examples: My family will have been living abroad for 5 years this September.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?? Future Perfect ContinuousFuture Perfect Simple 1. Expressing activity will be happening at a time in the future / For an action that will be continuous during a period of time. Example : If the weather remains good, we’ll be swimming all day tomorrow. He will be living in Thailand this time next year. The future perfect tense is quite an easy tense to understand and use. The future perfect tense talks about the past in the future. Example : I will have finished by 10 am. You will have forgotten me by then. She will not have gone to school. We will not have left. Will you have arrived? Will they have received it?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?? Future Perfect SimpleFuture Perfect Continuous 2. Interrupted action in the future Example : I will be watching T.V. when she arrives. 3. Parallel actions in the future Example: I am going to be studying and he is going to be making dinner. The future perfect tense expresses action in the future before another action in the future. This is the past in the future. Example : The train will leave the station at 9am. You will arrive at the station at 9.15am. When you arrive, the train will have left. You can call me at work at 8am. I will have arrived at the office by 8.
