How to Use a Laptop Computers

Unplug the laptop from the computer on wheels!

Use both hands when carrying your laptop.

Place the closed laptop on your clean desk. No water bottles, please!

Using both hands, lift the screen until your laptop is fully open. Please hold down the left corner of your laptop every time you open the screen!

Carefully unwind the mouse cord and place the mouse on your desk.

Plug the mouse into the 1 st port labeled with the arrow. Symbol side up Symbol side up

Power up your laptop by pushing the power button. If your laptop is already on, push down on the power button and don’t stop pushing until all of the lights are gone. Then power up your laptop!

Check to see that your WiFi light is on. If not, push the WiFi button.

Gently adjust the screen until the light level is just right for you. Please hold down the left corner of your laptop every time you adjust the screen!

Do not change the settings or adjust brightness!

Begin Log-in: CTRL+ALT+DELETE

Login - student Username: s+student number Password: tarwater

t For the internet: Click on the Student Links folder then TARWATER, and TARWATER HOMEPAGE

For student links folder: Click on the Student Links folder to use the programs inside the folder.

For Microsoft Word, etc: Click on the task bar to open ‘ all programs’ to use Word, etc.

STOP HERE! Click on the next slide when you are finished with the laptop…

When you are finished, log out then CTRL-ALT-DELETE, then click on the Shutdown button.

Wait until the screen is black and the computer is completely shutdown then, count to 20,

unplug your mouse, close your computer, and listen to your teacher for directions!
