Welcome Back … to the LAB!

Traffic Flow For safety reasons, there is an entrance and exit pattern that all classes should follow. Please do not block the doorway.

When you come into the lab… Be sure to follow the traffic pattern, and please WALK to your computer.

Huh? If your computer is unavailable for the day, please wait for everyone to be seated, and then find another computer.

Signal System Place a cup on the monitor or lift the flag to let your teacher know that you have a question, or your computer needs attention. Don’t call out or get out of your chair. Remember, there are more students than teachers, you might have to wait your turn.

Comfort Place your knees under the table with your feet towards the floor. Adjust your body so the monitor is straight in front of you. Place the mouse on its pad in a comfortable position on the correct side of your computer for you to use.

Lefties... If you have to move the mouse to the left side of the computer, please remember to put it back on the right side when you leave.

Never! No student should ever alter the school computers or change their settings in any way.

Teamwork Please do not touch your neighbor’s computer. If you are trying to help your neighbor, you can talk them through the directions, but do not touch their computer. Use words, not hands.

Finishing Up When it gets close to the end of your lab time, remember to save or print your work, and restore your work area for the next student. Don’t wait until the last minute or the third time your teacher calls.

Exit Checklist Log off Wait until you see the blue screen with the red Novell window Nothing should be in the Username box Equipment is returned to the correct location Chairs are pushed in Take personal items with you Return your Password Card when exiting Line up in a quiet single file line to wait for your teacher

Fire Drill In the event of a fire drill, please exit the lab, turn off the lights, close the door, and exit the building. Please WALK quickly and quietly. Do not shutdown the computers.

Lost & Found Paperwork will be left on the front table until the end of the day, then placed in the Recycle Box. Other items will be taken to the Lost and Found at the end of the day.

Etiquette Review 1.Walk in the computer lab. Follow the flow of traffic. 2.Use a cup or flag to get your teacher’s attention. 3.Return all equipment to its correct location. 4.Save enough time to follow the Exit Checklist.

Your teachers have some great projects planned for you. We hope you have a great time learning in the computer lab.
