Pacific Garbage Dump: The Big Dump By: Alex M, Michael P, and Trevor B

Do you like swimming in the ocean?

This is what the Pacific Ocean really looks like. Do you want to swim in this now? The green is toxic water!

Toxic waste can hurt people. Burning people’s skin is one of the examples.

It can also harm animals.

Another effect is it is harder for people to use the ocean to boat, swim and surf.

It also becomes harder for animals to hunt, swim and live.

The Hawksbill turtle is one of the animals that are going extinct. The Hawksbill turtles population is going down very fast.

Another one is the Blufin Tuna. The Blufin Tuna is one of the fish that is going extinct and if this continues, it will go extinct.

One thing that makes the Garbage Dump worse is sewage water goes in the water.

Plastic has a huge effect on the dump. Plastic is 80% of the dump.

Plastic can get stuck in coral and pollute the coral reefs and the coral will rot out and die.

Scientists have done research and believe that there will be no more fish in 2048.

Not many fish will be left if we don’t be wise about are catches on ships for fishing.

The mutated sea animals are born with extra rows of teeth, weird body forms, and bad eyesight.

This will eventually happen to people because if somebody eats a fish that has ate any plastic, has a baby, and that continues to happen in that family, they will have a birth defect.
