SWBAT explain what turnitin.com is and how to use it at Muchin College Prep Part 1 – What is turnitin.com and what are the rules and policies? Part 2 – How do I create an account? I heard I only need to do this once (and that is true). Part 3 – How do I submit an assignment? I heard this applies to all classes (and that is true). Part 4 – How do I enroll in a class? I heard this has to come before submitting an assignment (and that is true).

Part 1 – What is turnitin.com and what are the rules and policies?

What is Internet-based plagiarism (cheating) detection service Plagiarism: the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own. This can include copying word for word or also borrowing someone’s ideas and re-writing them as your own.

Rule and policies for turnitin.com ALL papers at Muchin must be submitted on to receive credit. Paper must be submitted the same day (sometimes the next day) it is due for all classes. Papers not submitted on will receive a LaSalle and a 0% until it is submitted. If you submit late, it is your responsibility to your teacher your submission receipt to change your 0% grade.

Part 2 – How do I create an account? I heard I only need to do this once (and that is true).

Directions for creating your account (you will use this all four years and only need to do this once) Go to turnitin.com Click “Create Account”

Step 1 Do not enter your address here. Click “Student”

Step 2 1. Enter your class enrollment password: English

Step 3 2. Enter your class ID: Ms. Pietrus Per 2: Per 3A: Per 3B: Period 7: Period 8: Ms. C Period 2: Period 3: Period 7: Period 8:

Step 4 3. Enter your first name & last name 4. Enter your Muchin address: muchincollegeprep.org MAKE SURE IT (NOT.COM)

Step 5 5. Create your own password (write this down somewhere – if you do not, you will forget it and be unable to log in). 6. Choose a secret question. (If you lose your password, you can recover it with this.) 7. Click “I agree”

Part 3 – How do I submit an assignment? I heard this applies to all classes (and that is true).

Step 6 (Notice: always click “Never” for saving passwords on student computers.) Click on your Class Name:

Step 7 Look for the assigned paper and click “Submit” next to it.

Step 8 Make sure it says single file upload. Also fill in Submission Title (the title of the assignment is fine). Lastly, click choose from Google Drive.

Step 9 Find and click on the file you want to upload. Then click SELECT.

Step 10 Your assignment should appear along the bottom. Then click upload.

Step 11 YOU’RE NOT DONE! Click the blue CONFIRM button!

Step 12 – CHECK YOUR ! Once you have turned in your paper, your submission receipt in your looks like this:

Using You should receive a confirmation stating “Your submission was successful.” Some computers don’t show this screen. You can also confirm by going back to the class page. If you can no longer upload a paper, it was submitted. You cannot delete an uploaded paper.

Part 4 – How do I enroll in a class? I heard this has to come before submitting an assignment (and that is true).

Step 1 Click on ENROLL IN A CLASS (the second tab along the top)

Step 2 You will enter a Class/Section ID # (this is different depending on your class period). Also enter an enrollment password (this is generally the same for each teacher). Then hit submit.
