ABSENCE MAKES THE HEART GROW FONDER Missing someone makes you like them more. I really miss my family, but absence makes the heart grow fonder.

BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP Just because someone is beautiful, it doesn’t mean they have good character. I thought she would be a nice person, but I guess beauty is only skin deep.

A BIRD IN THE HAND IS WORTH TWO IN THE BUSH What you have is worth more than more of something you don’t have. I really wish I had a better job. Oh well, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

YOU CAN LEAD A HORSE TO WATER, BUT YOU CAN’T MAKE HIM DRINK You can give someone an opportunity, but you can’t make them take it. I thought that Bob would take that job that I offered him. Well, you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.

MISERY LOVES COMPANY People who are having a bad time tend to like it when other people are having a hard time. We are both having a bad day, so let’s go out together: misery loves company!
