LESSON 6 CREATING PUBLICATIONS WITH MULTIPLE PAGES PUBLISHER

ADD OR DELETE PAGES Many publications such as newsletters and catalogs require multiple pages Master Page is the background of a publication page where repeated information such as the header, footer or background pattern can be viewed and edited. Use the Master Page feature to add background items to new pages.

ADD OR DELETE PAGES CONTINUED Multiple pages can be inserted by going to the Insert Ribbon, Page Group, Open the dialog box and selecting “Insert Page”. You can then select the number of pages you want to insert. Using the View Ribbon you can select to see the publication as a two page spread. Right-click a page in the Navigation Pane to delete a page

MASTER PAGE To view Master Page, go to “View” and then “Master Page” To edit Master Page, go to “Page Design” Ribbon and choose Master Pages You can have multiple Master Pages Example in a textbook you may have the left page say Publisher Chapter 7 and the right page say Advanced Formatting in Publisher

BUILDING BLOCK Portions of a page can be saved as a Building Block. Select the object you want to use as a Building Block (used over like calendars or coupons) then right-click and save as building block

MODIFY THE MASTER PAGE Every publication has at least one master page that can be used to add objects or text that you want on every page. Adding a watermark to the master page applies an element that shows a washed-out image behing text and objects. Publications with mirrored guides have both left and right master pages Publications without mirrored guides has a single master page

HEADERS AND FOOTERS Headers and footers typically contain information such as: File name Page number Document title Date

HEADERS AND FOOTERS Headers and footers are inserted at the master page level. It may be necessary to rename the master page to specificallly identify its use based upon changes that the designer has made.

COPYFITTING Copyfitting is the process of making text fit into the available space within the publication. Copyfitting includes: Margin changes Font size changes Text box size modifications Allowing for text box overflow

BEST FIT The Best Fit command can be used to automatically increase or decrease the point size of the fonts in a text box. Go to the “Text Box Tools Format Ribbon”, “text box” and place a check in the box next to best fit.

TABLE OF CONTENTS Table of contents is used to help the reader locate specific information in a multipage publication. Typing text in a text box and then adding tabs and leaders to join the text to specific page numbers = table of contents Leaders = a series of dots, dashes, or lines that lead up to a tab stop.

TABLE OF CONTENTS CONTINUED By going to the “Insert” Ribbon, you can insert a predefined table of contents into a publication: Insert Page Parts Table of Contents
