Can you guess my adaptation? I am short and I grow like a carpet on the ground. I am very tall and have long spikes.

 This plant can grow in wet or dry areas, clay, sand, & shallow soil.  Each of these plants has either male or female flowers. This plant grows close together for pollination.  This plant makes a poison in the growing season to keep insects away.  The root systems are shallow because the permafrost prevents the plant from growing deeply.
