Source A – Britain led the way in some areas, producing new technology that helped change the world. Medical care, education and transportation were all developed with help from the British Empire. Once these were developed, many people within the Empire benefited from them. Extract taken from the national archives ‘British Empire Overview’ To share findings and educate. This makes the source more reliable because it is presenting findings rather than persuading us of a bias personal opinion. The review is done by a member of the national archives team. This will be a historian trained in research with access to a large amount of information making the source reliable. An overview of the materials in the national archives. This increases the reliability as it is well informed and unbiased. Although the date is not given we can assume that it is a secondary source which has the ‘benefit of hindsight.
