Korean Red Cross Purpose of First Aid

Korean Red Cross Why is First Aid Training Necessary? First Aid Priorities Assess the situation quickly and calmly. Protect yourself and the casualties from danger. Assess the conditions of all casualties. Comfort and reassure the casualties Deal with any life-threatening conditions Obtain medical aid if necessary. Call an ambulance if you su spect a serious illness or injury. First Aid is the initial assistance or treatment given to someone who is injured or suddenly taken ill.

Korean Red Cross Recognize an emergency situation Decide to act Call to EMS(119) Give Car e Until Ai d Arrives emergency situation following steps

Korean Red Cross Step 1 : Recognize an emergency situation Auditory Cues Visual Cues Olfactory Cues Symptoms an d Signs

Korean Red Cross Step 2: Decide to Act

Korean Red Cross Step 3: Call to EMS(119) People are often afraid to call because they are not sure that situation is a real emergency and do not want to waste the time of the EMS. Your decision to act in an emergency should be guided by your own values and by your knowledge of the risks that may be present. However, even if you decide not to give first aid, you should at least call to get EMS. Become familiar with your local EMS system. It is important because the rapid arrival of emergency medical help greatly increases a person’s chances of surviving a life-threatening emergency.

Korean Red Cross Step 4: Give Care Until EMS Arrives If you are prepared for unforeseen emergencies, you can help ensure that care begins as soon as possible for yourself, your family and your fellow citizens. If you are trained in first aid, you can give help that can save a life in the first few minutes of an emergency. First aid can be the difference between life and death. Often, it makes the difference between complete recovery and permanent disability. By knowing what to do and acting on that knowledge, you can make a difference.

Korean Red Cross Permission To get permission -the person who you are -how much training you have -what you think is wrong and what you plan to do. Implied permission -if you come upon a person who is unconscious or unable to respond.
