The major wheat growing districts of Jammu Kathua, Rajouri & Samba lie along the IB/LOC and also share borders with Punjab & HP. The inoculums appear in northern foot fills in December and spreads to plains in wheat growing areas of Punjab & J&K state. 78S84 and 46S119 Pathotypes of the stripe rust are prevalent in the state and both are predominant in Jammu division. The disease appears in the State on wheat crop from first of January on wards in Jammu/Kathua/Samba in irrigated areas. In ,it appeared in 3 rd week of January, 2012 and in in Ist week of February, 2013 and it appeared in 3rd week of Janurary,2014 & in last week of January in Ha area was affected due to yellow rust in in all the major wheat growing districts. Director Of Agriculture - Jammu Strategies Adopted for Effective Control of Yellow Rust Creating mass awareness among the farming community about the replacement of susceptible wheat seed varieties with resistant varieties. Distribution of disease resistant varieties like DPW , HD2967, HD509, WH711 for replacement of old Susceptive Wheat seed varieties is a continuous process. Positioning of Joint Surveillance teams at circle/ Zonal/Block and district levels for effective monitoring of the disease. 7

Varieties like HD 2967, DWB621-50,PBW644,and HD509 has been introduced. late sown group varieties like Raj 3777,Raj4083, WH 1021,WH 711 has been introduced.
