OBA functionality in PowerPoint 2007 Purpose : This slide will provide you a quick walk through of the possibility of OBA functionality in Power Point 2007 using.NET Framework 3.5

Above is the Google Proposal document in PowerPoint which has been asked by client to duly fill up and send it across

PowerPoint Add in with OBA functionality and connectivity with SharePoint & Web services to pull out the team information. There are 7 slides inclusive of 2 Slides which are not to be assigned to any of the team members. Provision is made in the PowerPoint Add in to assign various slides to the team members. One Slide can be assigned to one team member only, but one team member can be assigned multiple slides. Slides can be assigned simply by clicking on the Assigned Document Section dropdown menu.

Similar to the previous slide we are now assigning slide no. 4 to another team member. Once the slide assignment is completed in similar fashion for all the team members then you have to click on Create Workspace Button. So what happens in Background? When user clicks the button the entire Slide & User Mapping is passed to the SharePoint Web Service which in turn takes care of slicing the slides and preparing the PowerPoint presentation for individual team members with the slides assigned to them. Web Service internally uses OPEN XML method create PPT and also connects to SharePoint website and posts it into the library which in turn triggers the workflow for next level of action.

Once the PowerPoint Slides are sliced and new Presentation are created for the assigned users the respective slides are copied into the SharePoint target Library where the workflow is configured. Respective users will be ed with a link of their respective PowerPoint document which they can open it without logging onto SharePoint web site. They will be able to update the content into the slides and save it and update the task status to 100% completion, which will internally trigger a workflow to generate a proposal document.

Team Members updates the Task Status to 100% completed and then a Workflow triggers which generates the Proposal Presentation i.e. Stitched Presentation of all the slides as per the original document along with the comments provide by team member.

Once the Workflow is triggered the Stitched PowerPoint Presentation or Final Proposal PowerPoint Presentation is generated and saved and is triggered to the Owner who had sliced and assigned the slides to the team member.

Final Response Presentation with all the Slides in the same order as per the original Presentation and it includes the response provided by other team members.
