BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Be a Leader, Always!Be a Leader, Always! While it is not listed in your job description, you are a leader inside and outside of your club. You are a role model at all times. You should always be presentable, optimistic, and ready to help.

Presiding as Pres!Presiding as Pres! One of the greatest duties of the president is to run your club's meetings. Example: Call the meeting to order. Pledge of Allegiance. Host an icebreaker to energize the members. Cover all upcoming events by using a PowerPoint Presentation or other resource. Allow guest speakers to present. Have the members recite the Key Club Pledge and Adjourn the meeting.

Growth and Retention is KEY!Growth and Retention is KEY! Growth: President should work to increase the overall size of his or her club. Establish membership growth goals and host membership drives. Encourage your members to share Key Club with a friend. Retention: Keep the members up-beat, interested, and keep the service coming, after all, you’re in Key Club for service, and the chance to make a difference.

Committees Anyone?Committees Anyone? Committees are not only helpful, but necessary. Successful committees need: Strong leading chair Willing members to help President is an ex-officio officer of every committee and should attend, not run, every meeting.

KC Committees! KC Committees! Key Club International recommends that every club have the following committees: Kiwanis Family Relations Committee Major Emphasis Program (MEP) Committee Membership Development Committee Program Committee Project Committee Public Relations Committee

Advisors and Kiwanians!Advisors and Kiwanians! Kiwanis Advisor and Faculty Advisor are both ex-officio members of your board. The “key” to a successful working relationship with them is to ask for advice and include them in the decision making The Kiwanis Club is your greatest resource; they can provide service projects and sometimes even assist the club in paying for a few expenses, such as DCON.
