What is life like with PTSD? PTSD- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

What is it? A strong stress reaction to a traumatic event.

What are the symptoms of it? People may have nightmares or flashbacks of the traumatic event they may avoid things that remind them of the trauma they may feel detached or numb emotionally they may be extremely jumpy and irritable

What treatment is available? Therapy, support groups, relaxation techniques, medication

What causes it? Being exposed to something extremely traumatic – natural disaster, war, near death experience, car accident
