China will unswervingly carry out the policies of reforms and opening up to the outside world. We shall stick to the independent foreign policy of peace and develop friendly relations with other countries. In reply to the foreign reporter’s rude question, the spokesman smiled and said, “No comments.” Adhering to the principle of “befriend distant states while attacking those nearby”, USA established diplomatic relations with China.

China and Japan are close neighbors separated only by a strip of water and share many cultural similarities. China and Korea being closely related and mutually dependent, China cannot sit back and watch without going to the rescue. On important international issues, China’s position has always been principled and aboveboard. Our countries, open-hearted and sincere to each other, enjoy brotherly friendship.

The year 2001 witnessed ups and downs in Sino-U.S. Relations, which were greatly influenced by the midair collision incident in early April and the September 11 terrorist attacks. On May 29, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Li jianchao held the regular press conference. At present Chinese President is paying a state visit to Russia. The two sides have a high degree of political mutual trust. The bilateral economic and trade cooperation have developed fast.

Sino-Japanese ties would finally return to normal track, if both sides followed the principle of "making history a reference for the present, and developing bilateral ties oriented toward the future. We believe that China-Russia energy cooperation will further strengthen our strategic partnership of coordination. There is only one China in the world. Our stand on China’s sovereignty has been quite clear. The US is the biggest developed country in the world and China the biggest developing one. The two countries share many similarities in preserving world peace and promoting development.

China is a developing country. We are faced with the problems of uneven development among different regions and between town and country. The Chinese people themselves have yet to live a well-off life. There is still a long way to go for China to make further achievement in its national economic and social development. But we also hold the conviction that helping others amounts to helping ourselves. We have provided sincere assistance to the African countries. All of these assistances are free of any political strings. China is committed to the path of development and has played a positive role in the international community. We will always be a force for peace, cooperation and development.
