HALLOWEEN The 31st of October is Halloween. It’s the Day of All Saints.

People wear scary costumes and masks, they often dress up as witches, ghosts, skeletons and spiders.

People make pumpkin lanterns and put candles inside them.

On this night people tell stories about witches, ghosts and monsters. In a dark dark wood there was a dark dark house. And in that dark dark house there was a dark dark room. And in that dark dark room there was a dark dark cupboard. And in that dark dark cupboard there was a dark dark shelf. And on that dark dark shelf there was a dark dark box. And in that dark dark box there was a…

GHOST!!! Haa-haa-hoo! Haa-haa-boo!

Children go from house to house, sing songs, knock at the doors and say “trick or treat”.

They ask for sweets and people give children candies, fruit and coins. If people don’t give treats, children can play tricks on them. It’s fun!

Trick or treat, trick or treat, Give us something good to eat. Give us candy, give us cake, Give us something sweet to take. Give us cookies, fruit and gum, Hurry up and give us some. You had better do it quick Or we'll surely play a trick. Trick or treat, trick or treat, Give us something good to eat.
