 Students are able to retain information better with the use of words and pictures together (Taylor, 2008).  Glover and Miller discovered that the use of a promethean board increased student motivation in their middle school study (Glover, 2001).  Some of the top emerging technologies being used in education are Blogs, Podcasts, Wikis, Handhelds, and Interactive Whiteboard Technologies (Wikija, 2011). 3

 Increases student engagement and teachers are able to hold student’s attention longer.  Allows students to become more independent and helps to develop student’s confidence in their ability.  Integrating multimedia into daily lessons allows students to visualize the material and increases how well they are able to recall the information when needed.  The use of multimedia in the classroom activates and builds prior knowledge, supports transfer of learning, supports attention, and increases motivation (Taylor, 2008) 5
