Dr. Rogers Instructor, Brevard Virtual School (BVS) Courses I teach: M/J U.S. History, M/J Civics, Parenting Skills, and Career Research and Decision and Decision Making Available Monday-Friday Office Phone and Text: Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida (UCF) 1994 M.Ed.  Your Grace Period is like your “free trial”.  From the date that you are added to the course you have 14 CALENDAR DAYS to reach at least 10% complete in your course.  When you reach 10% complete, you will be activated.  Once activated, you then have 14 CALENDAR DAYS to reach at least 20% complete.  After 28 CALENDAR DAYS, you should be at least 20% complete with your course.

 If you are less than 20% complete with your course, you may be Withdrawn without penalty.  If you choose to drop the course within the grace period, you will need to meet with your counselor to select an alternate course. A parent or counselor must verify for me that you are permitted to drop the course.  If you drop after the Grace Period or do not complete your course by the deadline, it may result in the issue of an “F” for your final grade.

Monthly Contact is a call that is required with a parent or guardian at minimum once per month to discuss progress and answer questions. This requirement can be completed by phone or by . (Parent and student addresses must be different.)

An FLVS Guardian account allows you 24-7 online access to submitted and/or graded assignments and your child's grade book. I highly encourage parents and guardians to learn more and sign up for an account using this link (also included in your Welcome Letter). You are an integral part of your student’s success! ParentGuardianAccount.aspx

 Pace refers to your progress through your course. Your Pace Chart shows you which assignments you should be completing each week.  You are expected to make progress EVERY WEEK for each course you are taking online.  Completing the weekly assignments is REQUIRED and not staying on pace can result in your removal from the course.

 Traditional Pace – 18 weeks to complete.5 credit Segment or Course(5-6% each week)  Accelerated Pace – 9 weeks to complete.5 credit Segment or Course (10-12% each week) Behind Pace, Ahead of Pace, On Pace – Which am I? In Week 4 of your enrollment, you should be 20% to 24% complete with your course to be ON Target Pace for Traditional Pace. If you are 12% complete in Week 4, you would be BEHIND pace. If you are 40% complete in Week 4, you are AHEAD of pace.

“Academic Integrity means...  Your work on each assignment will be completely your own.  Your collaboration with another classmate on any assignment will be pre-approved by your instructor.  You will not practice plagiarism in any form.  You will not allow others to copy your work.  You will not misuse content from the Internet.” Examples include Yahoo Answers, Wiki Answers, Ask-a-Friend, Open Study, etc. Source: FLVS Course Information Tab > Integrity

 “Plagiarism is copying or using ideas or words (from another person, an online classmate, or an Internet or print source) and presenting them as your own. (Even if they give you permission!) Some examples of plagiarism:  Turning in another student's work with or without that student's knowledge.  Copying materials from a source text, supplying proper documentation, but leaving out quotation marks.  Copying a paper from a source text without proper acknowledgment.  Paraphrasing materials from a source text without appropriate documentation. Source: FLVS Course Information Tab > Integrity

 Reboot your computer/Refresh your page  Notify your eLearning Assistant if you are working in a lab at school.  Ask your eLearning Assistant to notify the Technology Specialist at your school if there is a software download needed (Java, Flash, etc.)  Contact the FLVS Help Center for problems with the FLVS learning platform. They are available to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at , select #2 for technical support.
