My name is Marilyn Torres. I Have a Bachelor Degree In Education with a minor in English, a Master Degree in Arts of Education with a minor in Technology and Doctor Degree in Curriculum and Teaching and Educational Management in process. I’ve been a teacher for over 23 years. I enjoy my profession and I love to share my knowledge with others and also learn new thing each day. I am a very friendly person and I enjoy spending time with my family. I look forward to learning more about you, and helping you to enjoy a successful Spanish learning experience.

5 I will e-mail you a Pace Chart for our class
I will you a Pace Chart for our class. You must print and follow the Pace Chart to avoid falling behind, and so you can finish the course on time. The chart tells you how many assignments you must complete each week in order to stay on task. It’s required that you complete and to turn in the assignments listed on the Pace Chart for each week of the school year. I expect you to stay focused, on task, and up to date with the Pace Chart assignments. Pace Chart

6 Monthly contact is a requirement of the program.
Monthly contact can be completed through phone, or text message with the permission of a parent. Monthly contact through phone call, or text only counts if I receive a response from BOTH the student and the parent.

7 Blackboard Collaborate!

8 We will use Eliminate Live
We will use Eliminate Live! to communicate and review lessons at least once per month. The Eliminate Live! link will be sent to you via prior to our sessions. During our sessions, we will review course content, practice, and, sometimes, you’ll get to complete collaboration projects with your classmates.. You should have a headset or other method of listening in order to participate in these sessions.

9 Discussion Based Assessments

10 Discussion Based Assessments (DBA) are oral exams at the end of each unit of our course.
Study for your DBA and make use of flash cards and notes. Do not skip over DBAs. Schedule your DBAs using the flash appointment tool. After you complete each DBA, you will receive the password for the corresponding Unit Exam.

12 Use Flash Appointments to:
Make appointments for Discussion Based Assessments. schedule monthly calls, welcome calls and tutoring sessions as needed. On our Course Announcements webpage, you will a tab labeled Appointments. Click the tab, and then click on the link that will take you to the Appointments tool, where you will be able to select a date and time to speak to me for the above listed reasons.

The most important tabs you need in order to navigate the course are: Lessons Assessments Gradebook

16 Voice Activities Some of the class assignments are called Voice Activities. You will need to create a script based on the activity directions, and record yourself in order to turn in the assignment.

17 Work Days Once a month Orange County Virtual School hosts a face to face work day at our OCVS office on Tampa Avenue for each class. Students that might be behind at the time on their coursework will be MANDATED to attend the work day session. During the session students will work to catch up and become up to date with all assignments. You can also receive tutoring at our work days. Course password for your questionnaire : school

18 28 days Grace Period There is a Grace Period of 28 days from the date of your activation, in which you can drop the course without penalty. ALSO, If you have not demonstrated hard work and dedication to the course by completing assignments on time based on our Pace Chart, you might be removed from the course. You are expected to complete AT LEAST 20% of the course segment work by the end of the 28 days Grace Period.
