Theme: “Encounter, Exploration, Exchange” Your project must relate to part or all of this theme. Encounter: meeting someone for the first time Exploration: discovering a new place and/or a new idea Exchange: trade of people, ideas, and many other things

Formats: Choose one! 1. Paper of 1500-2500 words (individual only) 2. Exhibit (individual or group) 3. Documentary (individual or group) ten minutes in length 4. Performance/Skit (individual or group) ten minutes in length 5. Website (individual or group) made using Weebly

Three things required for ALL PROJECTS: 1. Title Page 2. Process Paper of 500 words 3. Annotated Bibliography

Title Page Must contain: Title Student name(s) Division (Middle School or High School) Category (Performance, Documentary, Website, Exhibit, Paper)

Process Paper 500 Words (NOT required if you do the individual paper) Answers the following questions: How did you choose your topic? How did you do your research? How did you create your project? How does your project relate to this year’s theme?

Annotated Bibliography Must be divided in two: one part with primary sources and one part with secondary sources Use MLA-style citations For each entry, you must explain how you used each source and how it helped you understand your topic.

Important Dates December 7th, 2015: Group/Individual Contracts due January 11th, 2016: Projects due January 13th-14th: Apollo History Fair January 16th: County entry forms for school winners due to Mr. Kalinsky February 26th: Broward County History Fair

Judging Criteria 60%: Historical quality 20%: Relation to theme 20%: Clarity of PResentation

Grading of group projects Students doing group projects will be evaluated BOTH on their group projects AND their individual contributions.
