1 History Day / Fair Due Date: January 12, 2018

2 What is due? TWO things: Product (exhibit, webpage, documentary etc.)
AND Process Paper with Annotated Bibliography

3 Process Paper (Rough Draft due 11/27/2017)
A process paper is a description of no more than 500 words explaining how you conducted your research and created and developed your entry. You must conclude your description with an explanation of the relationship of your topic to the contest theme. This is submitted separately from the display! The process paper DOES NOT go on the show board!

4 Title Page A title page is required as the first page of written material in every category. Your title page must include only the title of your entry, your name(s) and the contest division (Junior Division) and category in which you are entered. Do not include your age, grade or school name. Do NOT put any images on the title page.

5 Paragraph I The first section should explain how you chose your topic.
Grab the reader’s attention! You should write at least 4 – 5 sentences to give detail to your interest of this topic. How did the topic relate to you / your experience. “I have always been intrigued by….” “When I was young, I remember …” “Hate is killing our country. Throughout history …” “Never has a country been so afraid as in 1962.”

6 Paragraph 2 The second section should explain how you conducted your research. This is a sequencing activity … what did you do first? Where did you go next for help? What sources / resources did you use? Make sure you include every step … including gathering pictures, information, phone calls, library visits, interviews, etc.

7 Paragraph 3 The third section should explain how you selected your presentation category and created your project. What ideas for your show board came to mind as you collected information? How did you organize the information on your display? Did you gather special materials to make your display? Did someone help you? Did you build a model? Give details!

8 Paragraph 4 The fourth section should explain how your project relates to the NHD theme: Conflict & Compromise in History. This is the MOST important section, as it proves how your topic is significant in history. Anyone reading this section should be convinced YOU understand the issue(s) and have researched effectively enough to prove its importance.
