Netiquette: How to Act on the Internet Remember that when you communicate on the computer, you are communicating with other people. Follow these rules and be courteous to others Remember the user Make sure you are ethical in all of your actions

Netiquette: How to Act on the Internet cont. Know where you are in cyberspace and adhere to the rules Sending people emails and postings take up bandwidth and their time. Be respectful, don’t fill them with needless graphics or a bunch mindless chatter

Netiquette: How to Act on the Internet cont. Most of communication online is text so remember that your word is the only thing representing you! Share your knowledge with others Do not egg on cyberbullying, put a stop to it right away Respect others privacy (Do not read other’s emails, etc.) If you are a person with some power in the internet world, do not abuse that power People make mistakes, be forgiving.

They can steal your personal information or give your computer a virus Do not accept friend requests on social media from people you do not know Never open up strange emails (ex: email telling you that you have won a new iPad). Copyright Continued Computer programs are always protected by copyright laws Public Domain—If it is public domain anyone can freely copy and use it however Example of copyright: If a song was made before 1978 then you can remake if you would like with no problems. If the song was made after 1978 then you would have to wait fifty years after that person dies to do anything with it
