SmArt management for RenewAble district Heating and cooling systems SARAH Universidad de Valladolid- Cartif (SPAIN) Javier Rey, 2013 ERRIN Brokerage Event

OBJECTIVES & MAIN ACTIVITIES Topic characteristics: EE /2015: Technology for district heating and cooling Funding Scheme: Research & Innovation Actions The project approach is to develop a management strategy that make district heating and cooling systems, smart to choose the energy mix anticipating the energy demand, highly efficient to have less energy consumption, and cheaper to reduce operational and implementation costs. The specific technical objectives are the following: ERRIN Brokerage Event

OBJECTIVES & MAIN ACTIVITIES ERRIN Brokerage Event Development of new design, management, implementation and exploitation methodologies to integrate multiple efficient generation sources (biomass, solar thermal, cogeneration, industrial waste heat) with heat storage. Developments of energy consume strategies that allow DHC systems at different temperature levels. Adaptation of individual heating systems actually available in buildings for being included in the district heating network to respond peak demand. Development of the methodology to integrate nearly zero energy buildings in the thermal grid.

OBJECTIVES & MAIN ACTIVITIES ERRIN Brokerage Event Development of pipes new in their insulation materials to reduce thermal losses, and new in design to reduce installation, maintenance and operating costs. Development of innovative thermal storage strategy. Integration of sorption chillers in thermal network. Development of high efficiency heat exchangers. Development of new solutions for low temperature heat recovery and recirculation. Validation of management strategy developed in real DH system.
