Content Slide #1 Introduction Proposed image or graphic for this slide Welcome to Haiku, a learning management system or LMS that we will be using for Ceramics 1. Haiku is a module that will be used for an aid to learn how to use the Pottery Wheel. Haiku will provide you with videos, questions, and materials used to better your learning. Be prepared to collaborate with peers and for me to aid you in your learning while on this module. You can access Haiku through this URL and our class code is Clay For the past four years, students in the introductory Ceramics course have had great difficulty in using the Pottery Wheel. Students forget the tools and their use, forget the step-by-step process in creating a bowl, and forget crucial parts when designing their art piece resulting in a bowl with poor craftsmanship. There has been nothing but hands on activities involving the Pottery Wheel which only focus on the kinesthetic aspect of the lesson. By incorporating auditory and visual learning by displaying videos, questions, and exercising discussion and collaboration on Haiku, the goal is to aid all types of learners so they can get a better understanding of the ceramic technique. By also displaying videos, having subtitles, clear and large font, and having the online domain Haiku is available on any device that contain internet access, learners can have constant access to these resources so they can refer back and accommodations can be met for special needs. The Ceramics class is an introductory course, therefore no prerequisites, skill, or background is required in knowing how to complete the task of creating a bowl. The student is expected to follow the criteria of the lesson, stay focused, and be able to utilize information that the learners have been given to complete the task.
