What is OGA? On 1 April 2015, the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA)became an Executive Agency of DECC. Between then and Q the organisation will need to evolve and reshape itself ahead of becoming a Government Company in summer Oil and Gas Authority, is an Independent regulator for the UK Oil and Gas Sector. An Executive Agency of DECC. Promote industry development, influence commercial behaviour and to issue Licences for offshore/onshore acreage to promote the production of oil & gas and Licence Carbon Capture & Storage. The OGA will work with industry to make sure the UK has secure, clean, affordable energy supplies.

Working at OGA? The OGA IT team sits within the Information Services Team which makes up the Technology Supply Chain & Decommissioning Directorate. OGA IT team has developed and maintain the UK Oil Portal - an E-business system regulating the UK Oil and Gas industry.

The Placement Working as a Database Programmer for the OGA IT Team. Systems are used by oil and gas companies operating in the UK and the North Sea. The role will include maintaining and developing enhancements for the numerous systems used as part of the UK Oil Portal. The role will under take work in various Projects to fully experience the life cycle of developing new services. Opportunity to provide website cover for OGA’s section on GOV.UK and internal web pages.

The Placement We use a large selection of enterprise level languages and tools including... FOXopen XML Oracle SQL PL/SQL XPath XQuery HTML

FOXopen is an open-source e-business toolkit that allows rapid development and deployment of workflow-based web systems. Forms Oriented XML (FOX) is a framework developed by DECC. It is used by thousands of people in government and commercial applications.
