Leticia Rhea March 8, 2015 EDTC 3332 Instructional Technology Practicum

 In the Maintenance Planning department of ExpressJet Airlines it is management’s desire for the planners to become unified in complying with daily tasks, instead of performing duties to their personal liking, which may not be in compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures – SOP and General Maintenance Manuals – GMM, as well as new departmental procedures.

 Presently there is no training material that attend to the maintenance planners daily task and job duties  The training module will contain activities and a final quiz to identify and correct the issues that may be a result of old behaviors.

 Once finished with the module, planners will be unified in planning aircrafts components.  After successfully completing training, planners will arrange, highlight and accurately title aircraft components.

Upon completion of the training session; planners will be able to:  Given a mock aircraft 60 day report (CN), the planner will illustrate component highlighting (B), with no assistance (CR).  Presented with item grouping scenarios (CN), the planner will arrange aircraft components (B), without error (CR).

 Provided with aircraft package illustrations (CN), the planner will update software and data information (B), with no error (CR).

Performance ObjectiveAssessment 1.Given a mock aircraft 60 day report (CN), the planner will demonstrate component highlighting (B), with no assistance (CR). 2.Presented with item grouping scenarios (CN), the planner will arrange aircraft components (B), with 100% accuracy (CR). 3.Provided with aircraft package illustration (CN), the planner will classify software and data information (B), with no error (CR). Confirm comprehension: Planners will complete an online “Memory Recall” activity. Assess mastery with a final quiz on SoftChalk. Confirm comprehension: Planners will complete an online “Drag and Drop” activity. Assess mastery with a final quiz on SoftChalk. Confirm comprehension: Planners will complete an online “Identify” activity. Assess mastery with a final quiz on SoftChalk.

My target audience are:  Multicultural group of male and female Maintenance Planning personnel  All planners are familiar with airline operation terminology as well as the atmosphere.  Everyone is computer literate and familiar with the software used for daily tasks and duties.  Ages vary from early 30’s to late 40’s

 The planners will be able to complete the module individually, either at work or home.  Reference material will be administered for planners to utilize as they complete the module.  Training is only available online, planners will have to use a personal computer or laptop.  They will need internet capabilities in order to view and complete the module.

In order to view the module all planners will need:  They will receive reference material which will be reproduced by ExpressJet. ◦ ExpressJet’s Standard Operating Procedures ◦ General Maintenance Manual ◦ 60 day report ◦ Questionnaire  Personal computer or laptop  Internet access

 Introduction: 10 minutes (a) Welcome to the Basic Task Techniques training session – 2 minutes (b) Statement of Instructional Goals, Performance Objectives, and welcome feedback – 3 minutes (c) Review Resource material and content that has been provided – 5 minutes 1.ExpressJet’s Standard Operating Procedures 2.General Maintenance Manual 3.60 day report 4.Questionnaire

 Component highlighting: 25 minutes (a) Review aircraft 60 day report – 5 minutes (b) Demonstrate objective group highlighting – 5 minutes (c) Planner interaction with a question box – 5 minutes (d) Check for group components comprehension – 10 minutes Complete Identify activity.

 Item grouping scenarios: 25 minutes (a) Present item grouping scenarios – 5 minutes (b) Demonstrate arranging aircraft components – 5 minutes (c) Planner interaction with a question box – 5 minutes (d) Check for accuracy in arranging aircraft components – 10 minutes Complete Drag and Drop activity

 Software and data classification: 30 minutes (a) Display various aircraft packages – 5 minutes (b) Provided aircraft packages with labeling errors – 5 minutes (c) Have planner classify software and data information with question boxes – 10 minutes (c) Check for comprehension – 10 minutes Complete Identify activity  Summary: 3 minutes  Resources: 2 minutes

 Assessment : 60 minutes 1. According to GMM and SOP, how often does a planner highlight? 2. What are the 3 primary colors used to highlight? 3. What is the color to highlight completed items? 4. Orange is the color to highlight scheduled items? If not, what is the correct color? 5. If an item is highlighted blue you ignore it? If not, what are the corrective actions?

6. Under normal condition, how many times should a planner request an aircraft visit within 60 days? 7. When is there a need to sit an aircraft more than twice in a month? 8. Flight hours are the same as APU hours? 9. While doing your component grouping for ALPS, it is best to combine a day control item that drops on the same day as an hourly item? 10. Under normal condition, should day controls be a package driver? Why or why not?

11. The package headings in ALPS are determined by ________ and ____________. 12. If the package is changed in AuRA, do you update the information in ALPS? Why or why not? 13. When a package has been updated do you change the heading? If so, to what? 14. When should you remove the base from a package? 15. Removing the base in AuRA is a sufficient way to update the package.

Access Basic Task Technique Training Module View section on component highlighting, group components using “Memory Recall” activity. View section on item grouping scenarios, arranging aircraft components using “Drag and Drop” activity View section with aircraft package illustrations, complete “Identify” activity. Summary review Take a final test to assess knowledge

The tutorial will be evaluated by the following:  Subject Matter Expert: All training material will be reviewed and approved by Maintenance Planning management. Selected senior planners will interact with the module and report in detail: ◦ Course accuracy ◦ Content ◦ Organization ◦ Strengths and weakness

 Peer Evaluation: Included with the reference material will be a form. The form will ask the planners what they would like to see going forward. A space will be provided for personal notations and an address encouraging further contact with suggestions and additional training ideas or improvements.

The module will be an occupational in addition to an educational component for the Maintenance Planner position. I have identified a set of assessable as well as attainable learning objectives for ExpressJet Airlines Maintenance Planning department. This module will strengthen planner’s weakness and build upon their current foundations to create a new and productive learning experience
