1 This document will help you plan your online course. Complete it before you begin developing your course in Mzinga Publisher. The next three pages with the blue background display thumbnails of the page templates for the VUMC template. You will then see a blank course outline, examples of completed pages, and blank templates where you can fill in your content. To indicate what type of page you are creating, put an “X” in the box next to the title of the template on each page. NOTE: You will fill out the main text for each page, regardless of type, on the Standard page template. However, if there is additional text that is specific to the activity or question you are creating, you will use the other templates. Example: When creating a Drag and Drop 1 activity, I will use the Standard Page template and check the box next to Drag and Drop 1 title. I will put the directions for the activity on this page. Then I will use the Drag and Drop 1 template to write the text for each of the drag and drop items in the activity. -The Question Feedback section will be used when you create multiple choice or True and False questions. After you complete your storyboard, you will see an Instructional Design Checklist that you can use to evaluate your storyboard to ensure that the way you have planned and outlined the course will be effective in generating the outcomes you desire. This checklist is comprised of three pages with blue backgrounds. * Be sure to delete the “EXAMPLE” slides once you have completed your storyboard. Instructional Design Storyboard

The module has a summary page that brings together the content presented in each chapter and reinforces the introduction. Learning ObjectivesYes/NoComments Each learning objective is written with specific behaviors, conditions, and standards. Objectives are measurable- able to be used to test/evaluate learners Objectives include verbs from Bloom's taxonomy to identify a specific level of learning Page ContentYes/NoComments Text for each page is well-spaced and organized so as not to overwhelm the learner Text on each page pertains to the topic addressed by the title/header of that page If an idea from one page is continued on the next screen, there is a transitional phrase connecting the two screens. Sentences and/or bulleted statements are concise and to the point making them easy to read and comprehend

24 Information presented is accurate and truthful Text representing links or prompts such as "Click here" are set apart from information in some way All links to outside resources have been tested and take the learner to the correct page/website Images/VideosYes/NoComments The pictures and/or videos used on each page are clear and of good quality The pictures and/or videos used on each page connect to the text and subject matter of that page The images are positioned on each page in a way that allows for adequate spacing for the supporting text The videos are positioned and sized on each page in a way that makes them easy to see and keeps the layout of the page clean and neat AudioYes/NoComments Audio files are clear and free of background noise If the audio file is of someone speaking, each word the speaker says is clear and easy to understand Audio files support the text and subject matter on the page but do not repeat the written text word for word

25 Quiz/Knowledge Check questionsYes/NoComments All questions relate to one of the learning objectives and the content that supports that objective There are a few questions or some sort of knowledge check after every chapter Every question has correct and incorrect learner feedback The feedback given directly connects to content related to that question- no new information is presented in the question feedback The learning level addressed in each question matches the learning level in that objective (if the objective is to "identify" the question should not ask the learner to "apply" the material) Questions are asked with respect to how the learner will use the information in his/her work life
