Descriptive Adjectives Describe a noun or a pronoun by telling its number, color, size, type or other quality. Modify nouns Answer the question, “What kind?” The large, enthusiastic audience began a rhythmic dance to the music’s beat. Proper adjectives derive from proper nouns. Position of Adjectives An adjective usually goes before the word it describes. Corn and tomatoes were Native American crops. Sometimes it directly follows the word it describes. Tomatoes, rich and juicy, can be eaten raw.

Adjectives as Subject Complements, Object Complements An adjective that follows a linking verb and describes the subject is a subject complement S LV SC Popcorn is very tasty.
