The same verb can be transitive or intransitive Transitive verb – action verb with a direct object Aladdin possessed a magic lamp. Aladdin summoned the genie. Intransitive verb – has no direct object Moby Dick is a long novel. (Linking verb) The whale was floating.

Object of the preposition – noun or pronoun that follows the preposition Every preposition has an object Object of the preposition may be compound Prepositional phrase begins with a preposition Prepositional phrase contains a noun and its modifiers
