Question 5: How did you attract your target audience?

Our target audience would have access to a huge range of marketing tools where pull advertising is most heavily featured, including; Facebook, Twitter and IMDB. They’d also be heavily influenced by push advertising such as posters, billboards, radio and TV adverts, audio ads on Spotify, ads in newspaper supplements and magazine articles. Our target audience would have quite mainstream taste and they would have a good knowledge of the new products being introduced to the pop/mainstream culture. We’d be able to notify and inform our target audience of our new film by creating the film’s own pages on facebook, Twitter and IMDB. We’d also get the actors who feature in our film to ‘tweet’ positive statements about our film to alert their fans of the new release. By doing this we can target the audience group our filmed is aimed at on websites they use at least twice a week. By airing interviews with characters on TV channels which target the same audience as our film is, such as T4 and MTV, we’d be able to spread the word of the new film and raise the profiles of the featured actors. If we were to create a Youtube account for our film, we could post short clips from the movie which hint to the storyline so that our audience will become more and more exited about the release of the film. By advertising test screenings in specific major cities will make our film feel more exclusive and the positive reviews from people that were able to attend one of the test screenings would will make the audience even ore enthusiastic about the film.

Because most of the actors in our film are newer to the mainstream film industry, we’d have to think of other ways to attract our audience to watch our film, such as; previewing the more climatic scenes in our trailers and ad campaigns so that the film’s plot and visual performance would appeal to the audience rather than attracting a certain actors fan base. To add more intrigue to our push advertising we’d have to come up with a unique selling point for our print and outdoor posters and trailers. Out posters would have to capture the ambience of the whole film without giving too much away and not necessarily introducing any of the characters. For both the trailer the posters we could create a series of different products all highlighting different aspects of the film, both would have to maintain the same feel to them in order to make it obvious that they are advertising the same film. In our trailer and on our posters we’d show off previous achievements of the cast and crew by using wording such as; “from the makers of…” and starring award winning…”. By doing this we’d be promoting certain aspects of our film our target audience would be interested in.
