Twitter Twitter is an online service for users to document their actions throughout their lives through the use of either a phone or personal computer Messages are referred to as “tweets” and are limited to 140 characters in length. Users can choose to “follow” other users twitter pages to have special access to the updates that user posts. Many celebrities use twitter as a method of free publicity.

Twitter in Business Businesses are now using twitter as a free communication service to reach their clients quickly and en mass. The service makes it possible for companies to quickly and easily produce information regarding recent news in the company and rumors as well as offering a new avenue for customer service.

Twitter in Business Cont. Third party applications make it possible for companies to use Twitter information in relevant ways such as ing twitter search results to a specific individual and using an application called “crowdsourcing” to aggregate a group of followers opinions on a specific topic. Twitter offers a first party search function that allows users to search for specific content in “tweets” which can then be converted into an rss feed for effortless updating.
