Informational Interview with Jessica Kinard Amanda Coats

Speech Language Pathologist PhD student here at UNC My teacher from my first year seminar course on childhood language disorders Chose to interview Jessica because she is a bilingual speech language pathologist and I am interested in possibly working with both Spanish and English populations one day

Her education background Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders at Appalachian University Masters Degree in Speech Language Pathology at UNC Chapel Hill Earned her Certificate of Clinical Competence after doing her clinical year of fellowship after completing graduate school

Flexible Career You can work with various populations You can work all over the world Flexible hours Growing field

Opportunities for advancement within career: Become lead SLP in your department or company Start your own private practice Can get your PhD and conduct research and teach classes

Reason why she chose to go back to school By working with the Spanish speaking populations, she realized that there was not enough resources to do therapy in Spanish so she hopes to be able to do research with this population in order to create more Spanish resources
