1 General Announcements
Need help Registering for Private Lessons? Go to my.mbu.edu/Academics/Registration. Check under Misc. Resources for help in registering for lessons. Students are able to register for music groups through the online registration process. If you have any issues, please see the Registrar’s Office. All students must earn at least 128 credits in order to complete a bachelor’s degree. All students must earn a minimum of 24 credits in the Bible Core. Students may register for extra courses not required for graduation, but those courses do not count toward financial aid. That would only affect your financial aid if you schedule fewer than 12 credits that are required for graduation.

3 Testing CORE/ACT/SAT - Check the School of Education Group Page for passing scores on your ACT or SAT to determine if you need to take the CORE tests. If needed, you must take the CORE tests by the end of your sophomore year. Praxis 2 Content Tests – Must be taken and passed the semester prior to student teaching. Foundations of Reading – Required for all Elementary and Early Childhood Majors and LD Minors. Must be taken and passed the semester prior to student teaching

4 Freshman Field Work must be completed by or at 28-credits.
15 hours with one teacher Child Abuse Training Course Works best during spring break or after finals Placements begin no sooner than the 3rd week of the spring semester Go to the SOE Group and click on Freshman Fieldwork page. Read through the instructions. Fill out the application and to Mr. Lazzell Mr. Lazzell will register you for the course and can assist in making your placement. More information will be given during the first 2 weeks of EDUC 144 Foundations of Education.

5 Sophomore Field Work should be completed by the end of your sophomore year.
Fill out the online application on SOE Group site and to Mr. Lazzell Download the SFW packet from the SOE Group. Mr. Lazzell can assist you in making your placement. Mr. Lazzell will register you for EDUC 200. You will be recording yourself teaching during SFW.

6 Junior Practicum – Mini edTPA must be completed one full semester prior to student teaching.
Fill out the online application on SOE Group site and to Mr. Lazzell. Deadline is December 4 if you plan on completing during the spring semester. Mr. Lazzell makes JP placements. He will you concerning the required seminar & give you the syllabus at that time. Mr. Lazzell will register you for EDUC 300. JP will include a mini edTPA.

7 Reminder: Secondary School Reading is a SPRING ONLY course
Reminder: Secondary School Reading is a SPRING ONLY course. *This semester it is only offered during the Online B term. Student Teaching Application must be filled out immediately if student teaching in the fall. If student teaching in the spring of 2018 please fill out an application by March.

Go to My Maranatha and log in. On the left side, click on My Groups. Click on School of Education in the drop down list. Table of Contents is on the left side. School of Education Manual can be found on the General Information page of the School of Education Group.

9 SOE Statistics Foundations of Reading Test – 46/54 first time pass rate = 85% December. Wisconsin 553 out of 873= 63% August Praxis II Content Test – 475/510 passed. 93% first time pass rate. edTPA – (Teacher Performance Assessment): The published cut score is 38. This performance assessment now must be passed to receive a WI teaching license.
