Presentation transcript:

People Who were not white would become slaves around 1830s, they would be sold and they were treated horribly. White people would make them work for them, but not nicely. If they didn’t do as they were told or the white person didn’t think they were doing it fast enough they would whip them. Even children would be slaves and work. If they were to weak to work they would still have to work until they died. Only black people were used for slaves. When they were being sold they were like objects being auctioned, but they were not objects, they were people.

Civil rights are rights that everybody in the country has. These rights are given by the laws in their country, in most countries civil rights include rights to say what you think is right, rights to believe what you want and have your own religion and a lot more rights. Civil rights are protected by laws, some people think rights are very strict and others don’t follow them. Rights say that people should be able to do as they like unless it hurts somebody, even if other people think it is bad or not the right thing to do.

Racism still goes on today, a lot of people judge people because of their nationality and religion. Some people will bully others because of it, racism can also include making jokes, harming somebody or damaging something of theirs. Sometimes people are racist without realising it. But even though the people doing something might not realise it, they are affecting somebody’s life.

racism is treating somebody different because of their nationality or religion, racism can be very affective. Sometimes racism can include: Violence, written or verbal threats or insults, damage to things they own and even inappropriate language. A lot of racist people fell offended because not everybody is from the same nationality or religion, sometimes that is what starts the racism, it is also what started slavery. Adults and children can be racist, a lot of teenagers are racist to other people too. Most people think it should be stopped completely but the people been racist do not.
