Thank you for selecting this project for your students. In the following slides I will explain the project, objective, target audience, etc. Welcome to the Teacher’s Lounge

Overview I chose this topic for 2 nd grade students because at this age they are able to read most fairy tales. Also, at this age they should be familiar with basic elements of fairy tales.

Audience 2 nd Grade Beginner students on fairy tales Intermediate to Advanced Learners – Basic Computer Skills required to navigate slides – Able to catch onto new material quickly

Learning Context Small Rural School Individual Project At a computer – One computer for each student Quiet Environment: requires concentration Internet access required – Youtube video included in lesson May need computer access at home

Learning Objectives Learner will be able to – Recall basic storyline of Cinderella, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood – Recall background information of each included fairy tale – Recall the main characters of the three fairy tales – Must get an 80% or higher on Quiz

The History of Cinderella This version had no fairy godmother but instead a magical fish. Also instead of a glass slipper, Cinderella leaves behind a golden shoe. First written story Tuan Ch’eng-shih China

Main Characters Cinderella Evil Stepmother Evil Stepsisters Fairy Godmother Prince Charming Remember that different versions may have different characters.

The Story A girl by the name of Cinderella lives with her stepmother.

The Story She is treated very badly, but her fairy godmother makes her beautiful to meet a prince. She leaves behind a slipper which the prince uses to find her.

The stepmother tries to trick the prince into thinking her stepdaughters are the girl he’s looking for.

The shoe only fits Cinderella’s foot. The prince finds his true princess and they live happily ever after.

History of Snow White The first story of Snow White was written by Brothers Grimm. This version was very dark and evil, not like the Disney version most people know today.

Main Characters Snow White Stepmother (the witch) The Seven Dwarves Prince

Storyline Snow White’s stepmother wants to kill her because of her beauty.

Snow White runs away where she befriends and lives with the seven dwarves.

Her stepmother disguises herself as a witch. She tricks Snow White into eating a poisonous apples and falls into a deep sleep until her prince wakes her with a kiss.

The Story Little Red Riding Hood is traveling through the woods to her grandmother’s house.

When she arrives, something seems wrong with Grandmother. She discovers that the wolf has disguised himself as her!

Just as Red is about to be eaten, the woodcutter comes in and saves her.
