 Your primary responsibility is to communicate information to and from your members!  Questions, concerns and monthly reports up the Chain of Communication to your VFC and SO-MS or Division Staff Officer.  Dissemination of information from District & Division to your members at monthly Flotilla meetings.

 Begin with yourself!  DSO-MS requests that all MS Staff Officers take IMSEP, Good Mate and ICS 100, 200, 700 & 800 online to have minimal knowledge of MS/MEP.  Provide Flotilla training in MS/MEP areas and opportunities to members.  Encourage participation in MS/MEP activities. Lead by example!

 National “P” (Prevention = MS/MEP) Department website found at pdept.cgaux.org – check it out and use it!  Your SO-MS (or Division Staff Officer) and DSO-MS – communicate with them!  The national “P” website – read it – know what is there for you to use!  Trident training program – get involved!

 List of goals for FSOs-MS to achieve  Maximize personal effectiveness as FSO-MS  Provide Flotilla member training in “P” areas  Involve Flotilla members in “P” activities and programs  Create a Division-wide “P” network  Work toward personal “P” goals

 Minimum 5 year commitment  Training includes: › Education – 7 courses › 4 Personal Qualification Standards › 5 years of service in “P” activities  Marine Safety Training Ribbon after completion of 7 courses  Provisional Trident Award after completion of 4 PQSs – Permanent award upon completion of all requirements

 “P” activities may be included in PA, PE, VE, PV and Operations  There are opportunities for everyone – regardless of their areas of interest, age or physical capabilities  Trained members may be requested to assist Sector “P” departments in specific areas as needs arise or in surge conditions
