Many Roles in Theatre
Producer The person responsible for the entire production, including obtaining financial backing, paying the bills, and hiring the director and creative staff.
Director The person in charge of the artistic production in a play.
House Manager House crew- The group responsible for printing tickets and programs and managing the box office, audience, and physical theatre during a production.
Stage Manager The person in charge of supervising backstage. The director’s right hand man (or woman).
Costume Designer The person who designs or plans the costumes to be worn in a play of stage production.
Makeup Designer The person who plans the designs of the makeup to be worn in a play or stage production.
Set Designer The person who designs the set for a production.
Set Crew Crew in charge of executing the set designers plans.
Lighting Designer The person who plans and puts into effect the lighting for a play or stage production.
Light crew The crew responsible for executing the lighting designers plans.
Sound Designer The person who plans and puts into effect the sounds of a production.
Sound Crew The crew responsible for executing the plans of the sound designer.
Property Master The person in charge of the stage properties for a production.
