1 VOCABULARY #5 PRODUCTION PROCESS

2 AUDITION * To try out for a role in a play or musical.

3 TABLE WORK * An organized reading of the script by the actors with speaking parts.

4 RUN REHEARSAL * Rehearsal when the director explains all of the “pieces of the puzzle” to the cast and crew (including sets, props, costumes, etc.).

5 RUNTHROUGH * Rehearsal used to assist performers in learning dialogue and solidify aspects of blocking and stage movement.

6 TECHNICAL REHEARSAL * Rehearsal intended for lighting and sound technicians to work without the actors (or limited). Also known as a Q-2-Q or cue-to-cue.

7 DRESS REHEARSAL * Rehearsal(s) when the entire cast dresses as they will dress at the performance for the audience.

8 COSTUME PARADE * An event held in the theatre in which each actor walks across the stage in his/her costume, one at a time; designed to show the costumes to the director.

9 CALL TIME * Announced to performers and/or crews that they are needed for a rehearsal or performance.

10 “PLACES” * A call to the actors to get ready because the curtain is about to go up.

11 CURTAIN CALL *Bowing and receiving the audience’s applause at the end of a show.
