There are over 900 million objects that people interact with (pages, groups, events and community pages). More than 2.5 million websites have integrated with Facebook.

Origins Created by Mark Zuckerberg in his Harvard dorm room. Was originally supposed to be only for use by Harvard students and has since grown to allow anyone over the age of 13 to connect. To create this website Zuckerberg had to hack into the Harvard Crimson which was a database of all Harvard students.

Databases Facebook uses a series of databases that are linked together by different interdependencies. It is an ever expanding databases which enables the administrators to continually make changes for the better of the website. The contents of these databases never get deleted.

Information Systems Information systems are implemented within an organization for the purpose of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of that organization. Types of information systems include: Data warehouses, databases, and enterprise systems. All information systems are based of an input/output result.
